DECEMBER SOLSTICE

MONDAY or Tuesday will be one of two days of the year when the inhabitants in the globe's Northern Hemisphere get sunshine for the shortest period during the day - the day of the Winter Solstice.
The celestial event marks the official start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere as the whole world readies for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Koodyattom

KOODYATTOM is the oldest existing classical art in the world, recognised by UNESCO as a Human Heritage Art. It was originated much before Kerala's classical art Kathakali and most other theatrical forms in the world. It is considered to be at least 2,000 years old. Kulasekhara Varma Cheraman Perumal, an ancient king of Kerala, was known as the creator of Koodiyattam in the present form.

Subhadraaharanam enacted in Dubai




KATHAKALI's thick make-up has already been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's thickest make-up.
THE four-day Utsavam 09, an Indian classical treat for Dubai art lovers organised by Thiranottam cultural group, was curtained down with a final perfomance of Kathakali. The multi-event, held at Wellington School in Dubai, was witnessed by hundreds of classical art enthusiasts from all walks of life in Dubai including foreigners and locals.

Catching The Spirit

Bronze Beauties Beckon

MF ' S ' MARVEL ' OGUE

The consulate General of India, Dubai in association with Sharjah Chamber of commerce & Industry (SCCI), the Indian Business Professional Council, Sharjah. and the Indian Association Sharjah hosted the first "India-Sharjah Bussinus and Cultural Forum" on Wednesday(18.11.2009) the event began with the inaguration of India's formost artist, MF Husain's painting exhibition, titled "100 years of Indian Cinema" at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
